u3a Map Search

We created a custom Joomla component, to enable site visitors to search the a database of u3a's in the UK.

Project specification, usability and testing
Search results are displayed by List, or on a Map
Results by distance and then alphabetical
Integration of Google Maps API, included embedded directions.

Multiple u3as at the same location display separate icons, meaning each u3a is visible
Admin can upload CSV file, or update and manage entries via the component
When a record is updated, or CSV file uploaded, the longitude and latitude are automatically updated.
Success message when uploading CSV which confirms removals, additions and changes to records
Unpublished records are not republished when updated via CSV

SBSG Bird Sightings Component

SBSG already had a Joomla 3 component that wasn't fit for purpose. We upgraded and redesigned their website, and built a completely new Custom Joomla Component.

Project specification, usability and testing.
Bird watchers are able to submit their bird sightings and upload photo.
Images are automatically resized, and the submitters copyright, bird species and locaton is added to the image.
Site visitors can view signtings from the last 7 days.
Logged in members can view sighting going back to 2011.
Logged in users can view their own sightings.
Search by location, bird speciest etc.
Admins can download reports and manage sightings.
Endangered species submissions are hidden.
